It's been a while since we've posted any updates. I've been working on this post for a while, but an early riser and short napper doesn't give me much time at the computer.
December was very busy with holiday activities and seeing lots of family. Now we're back to normal routines and settled at home.
Here is a recap of our Christmas and New Year and a few miscellaneous updates.
In early December Rebecca was in a Christmas program at church. She dressed up as an angel and did a great job singing. Grandpa and Grandma Holleboom and Uncle Dan were able to join us for the program and dinner afterwards. Rebecca was so excited to have them come.
Rebecca and Justin went to the library to see the annual tree lighting. They also saw reindeer and got to visit with Santa. Rebecca knows Santa is just a character and that he doesn't actually give presents, but she thinks it's fun since she loves to pretend.
The kids had fun helping pick out our Christmas tree and decorating it. They each had new ornaments to hang. This year Rebecca picked a princess crown. Abram got a miniature Fisher-Price corn popper (the original version) that actually works.
Rebecca had her preschool Christmas party on December 21. I got to join her for the last 45 minutes of class. The kids sang songs for the parents. Then we all shared a snack and visited. Rebecca was so happy to tell everyone that we brought the Christmas cookies :) She made sure that Maestra tried one. It was so cute to see all the kids singing in Spanish. Such sweet voices. And it is amazing how well they know Spanish already!
On December 22 we headed to Grand Blanc for our brother-in-law's surprise 40th birthday party. He was totally surprised, and we all had a great time celebrating with him. We had the extra bonus of getting to spend some one-on-one time with Uncle Kevin, Aunt Sara, Carson and Bristol before the party. As usual Rebecca and Carson were inseparable. But this time Abram wanted to join in the fun :)
December 24 we celebrated Christmas as a family in the morning. We enjoyed a time of relaxing and opening presents. In the evening we celebrated with some extended family at Mary's Aunt Marcia's house.
December 25 we went to church in the morning. In the afternoon we headed back to Grand Blanc to celebrate with the Hollebooms. The kids had so much fun opening presents. Grandpa and Grandma had some special gifts related to their recent trip to Disney World. Everyone was so generous. After gifts we had a delicious dinner and lots of time to visit before heading home.
We had a few days to play at home. Thankfully we got a little snow, so the kids were able to enjoy some time outside.
December 30 we headed to WI to celebrate Christmas and New Years with all of the Voogts. This was the first time all eleven of us stayed at the farm together. There was no sleeping in this year...Abram and Esther were up before 6 am each day (WI time). And anyone that knows Abram knows he is NOT quiet when he gets up. The kids had so much fun together. And Grandma served tons of delicious food as always. Rebecca and Abram had a great time playing and reading with Uncle Kevin and Aunt Haylee. And Rebecca got to spend some quality one-on-one time with Grandpa. He got to see the full extent of her imagination :) They enjoyed their special time.
Unlike Michigan, Wisconsin had lots of snow. So we spent some time outside. The kids did sled rides and a hay ride with Grandpa. Justin and I went snow shoeing. And some of the family went tubing/sledding.
We enjoyed celebrating the holidays with everyone. Aside from a bit of a rough ride home it was a good trip.
Of course we spent time baking, playing and just enjoying the season as well.
Now that we're back home we've been enjoying using all of our Christmas presents. And we did some serious toy/house organizing and cleaning.
Both kids are sick now with the nasty flu going around. We are thankful it does not involve puking. But it's not fun that it lasts so long. Hopefully everyone will be healthy again very soon.

Looks like you guys had a wonderful December! It's always a crazy fun month!
I wish we'd have known about Rebecca's Christmas program at church.. Especially that it was in the afternoon and not in the morning. It was the same day as our new member welcome at church, but we probably would have driven out for it. I just assumed it was during the morning church service, though.
Aren't the preschool parties so cute/fun? I love them! We have one each month, pretty much.
Thanks again for coming over early before Jason's party!! It was so fun!!
You can definitely see the family resemblance amongst Rebecca, Abram, and Esther! Wow!! I still see a decent amount of Holleboom in Rebecca and Abram, too, though. :)
