Apples and Pumpkins and Rolling

On Saturday we visited two local orchards.  First we went to Moelker to pick Empire apples.  Then we went next door to Wells Orchard to pick pumpkins.  We also went through the corn maze...well sort of.  Rebecca led the way.  And after wandering around for a while ended up going back out the entrance :P  We also stocked up on pears and squash while we were there.  It was a beautiful October morning.  And the kids enjoyed it!
On Sunday Abram turned 5 months old.  Hard to believe.  He is getting so big.  Last night he finally rolled from his back to his tummy.  So now he can roll both ways.  Abram is still trying as hard as he can to be on the move...though it's tough to move around when you're such a big boy :P  He still adores his sister and will laugh about just about anything she does.
We're still trying to enjoy the nice weather while it lasts and looking forward to a visit from Grandpa and Grandma Voogt this weekend.

Looks like Abram is well on his way to sitting up, too! He's growing so fast! Hopefully we'll get to see you guys soon so we can see him.

This last weekend was perfect for an orchard trip - we went apple picking, too. We only picked a peck for fresh eating, baking, and a small batch of apple sauce. I don't think i am going to can very much applesauce this year. We still have quite a bit left from last year.

Yes, he is making great progress with sitting.

We have some applesauce left too, but I'm doing a fair amount this year. Before I know it Abram will be able to eat it. And it's something that I can eat. Pureed apple is the first fruit added in on GAPS. I canned 5 quarts yesterday and 5 quarts today. I've still got quite a few apples from Sat (we got a 1/2 bushel), and Jusitn's parents will be bringing more on Friday. I also have another 1/2 bushel of pears. I'll start working on those tomorrow. I will be so glad when I get through the apples and pears and can be done canning for a while :)
