Yesterday afternoon we went to a fun show at Van Andel...Disney On Ice: Princess Wishes. Justin's work had a raffle for tickets...and we'd been waiting and waiting and waiting to see if we won. We finally found out mid-week last week that we did not win tickets. It was too late to plan the potential weekend away we were considering. So we just decided to buy tickets and go to the show anyway. We're all glad we did! Rebecca is very into princesses right now. And can't wait for her princess birthday party.
The show is very well done. It shows part of the story of just about every Disney princess. Lots of fun music, a lot going on the whole time.
Rebecca did enjoy it a lot. But she is still our sensitive girl. Part way through the first act (Aladdin) she started crying...and crying. Mary had to take her out for a bit to settle her down. She said she was sad. Looking at all of the princess stuff on sale helped cheer her up. And when she heard the seven dwarfs singing she said, "I think I'm ready to go back and watch now." From that point on she did very well. She still had her moments of being moved by the music, but no more crying. At intermission we got her an Ariel cup/straw (we got it without the gigantic sno cone and just put some water in it for her). That really cheered her up. On our way back to our seats she said, "I'm happy now." :)
The 2nd half was just as good as the first half. Rebecca loved Ariel and Sebastian. Who doesn't like the song "Under the Sea"? :) So much fun. The final princess was Cinderella, of course...everyone's favorite :) Rebecca really liked that. And then the finale with all of the princesses, Tinkerbell (the host), Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and fireworks. Although things started a little rough for Rebecca, after the show she almost started crying again because she said she wanted to see it again :) She'll have fun looking at all of the pictures and watching videos today.
After we got home from the show Mary opened birthday presents, and later we had princess birthday cake. It was a mini birthday celebration for Mary...even if it was full of princesses. Moms can be princesses too, right? Overall a fun-filled family day.
