The Bookworm

Rebecca LOVES to read.  She always has.  She'd be a very happy girl with a new stack of books to read every day or with spending hours in the library every day.  The one thing that amazes us is her ability to sit still and read with us for such long periods of time.  And she listens to every word.  And often memorizes whole books.  We have to keep getting more and more advanced books to read with her.  Rebecca's latest interest is reading Mommy's and Daddy's books.  She decided last week she wanted to read one of the Chronicles of Narnia books (The Silver Chair).  She kept begging Mommy to read it to her.  So I tried...and we are now on chapter 6!  She will sit with me to read an entire chapter at a time.  Without pictures.  With plenty of big words.  She just takes it all in.  And she talks about the story/characters randomly throughout the day, so we know she's listening.  By the end of the day there are always books scattered all over the house...she gets so many out each day.  Who knows, maybe it won't be long before she can read all her books by herself :)

I think my big girl and your little girl would be fast friends.
Keep reading to her, Momma!

That is awesome that she's listening to chapter books already!! She has a lot of focus, doesn't she? Carson loves to read, too, but usually only for one or two books, then he's down running around, then back for another story, then down playing again. He doesn't sit still for long. :)
