Van Heukelum Gathering

Yesterday the whole Van Heukelum family gathered in Hudsonville, even the ones from Iowa, New York, Canada and Bolivia! It's very rare that we can all get together, so it was nice to see everyone. There have been 4 babies born in the last few months (Carson, Rebecca, Maggie, Breanna). There was never a quiet moment with that many little ones! They all look so different too. Rebecca had a great time and was alert most of the time, which always makes it fun. She even did pretty well with all of the picture taking. Check out the pictures from the party in the Van Heukelum party photo album.

Rebecca started rolling onto her side this week. Mommy and Daddy are going to have to start watching her more closely as she gets more mobil. She is also "talking" more and more. She's such a fun little girl! There are some new pictures in the June album.

Back online

Earlier this week our computer died. We had to replace the motherboard, processor and power supply. We hadn't intended to upgrade our computer right now, but it had been over 3 years. So now we've got a better computer and we're glad to have it back :)

Rebecca has been to Meijer, Calvin College, the mall and Target this week. She enjoys her outings...great time to nap. Plus she tends to get stuff when we shop :) She is getting so big. Mommy is buying all 3-6 month clothes now. And she's starting to put away a lot of clothes that don't fit anymore. Rebecca is really starting to enjoy playing with her toys. She loves all of her monkeys!

Sunday Rebecca will get to meet all of her Holleboom side relatives at a Van Heukelum gathering. There will be 4 great grandchildren there that were born in the last few months. Next Tuesday will be her first barbeque. Our small group is doing a summer gathering. And later next week we're looking forward to celebrating her first 4th of July!!! Hopefully she enjoys the parade...and can sleep through the fireworks :)

It is especially joyful right now to look at Rebecca and think of God's goodness. At this time last year we were just beginning our IVF journey. We never imagined how blessed we'd be 1 year later. God is good!!

We have a few new pictures in the June album.

Uncle Kevin

Rebecca finally got to meet Uncle Kevin (Voogt) this week. Rebecca was her usual fussy self on Friday evening when he was here. But he came back on Saturday afternoon (with Uncle Ryan) to see a much happier baby :) and watch some soccer.

Rebecca seems to be getting over her shots and her cold and getting back to normal.

There are a few more updated June photos and a few baptism photos from Grandpa Holleboom.

check up update

Poor little girl. Rebecca was a very unhappy baby yesterday afternoon. Her legs hurt. And she didn't feel well. After lots of crying, plenty of snuggling with mom, and some Tylenol she got some decent sleep. She perked up a bit in the evening. But now on top of the shot reaction she's catching mommy and daddy's cold. She's been sleeping pretty much the whole day today and not eating like she usually does. Tummy drops, nose drops, and Tylenol drops are helping her stay comfy. Hopefully she'll be back to happy, playful Rebecca soon.

2 months old

Rebecca turned 2 months old yesterday. She took a trip to GE (former employer) with Mommy to see her co-workers and show off :) She was an angel as usual and slept the whole time.

Monday was her first time home alone with Daddy (mommy was playing soccer). Rebecca was a good girl for Daddy. They went on a walk, she ate, and she went to bed.
Today Rebecca had her 2 month check up. Mommy must be feeding her well. At her 2 week appt. her weight was in the 25th %, now she's in the 75th %! She weighs 11 lbs. 10 oz. (no wonder she feels so heavy and her 0-3 month clothes are starting to fit so well!). And she's 22 in. long. She's in the 50th % for length and head circumference. Rebecca is meeting all of her developmental milestones. The Dr. says she looks great! Her reflux issues seem to be improving as she gets older, so we are thankful for that. Rebecca got 3 shots (5 vaccinations) today. She cried when it happened, but hasn't fussed since then. She's a real trooper. Hopefully they won't make her sick. Mommy hated to see her cry, but she managed ok too.

Mommy and Daddy are enjoying every minute with this precious little girl. Her big smiles and little noises are the highlight of the day!

This Friday Rebecca gets to meet her Uncle Kevin (Voogt). He'll be over for dinner and to visit.

Next Tuesday Mommy and Rebecca are going to Calvin College to visit some old friends in the engineering department. Maybe if Mommy keeps taking her to visit other engineers she'll end up being an engineer someday :)

More new pictures!

Happy Father's Day!

Today we celebrate Justin's first Father's Day. He got a chain saw from Rebecca (and mommy), we made him a rhubarb pie and we had a nice beef roast for dinner. We are all happy we can finally celebrate this special day.Rebecca tried her swing again yesterday. We thought she might sleep in it, but instead she wanted to play!

As always we've got more new pictures :)

Baseball, Baptism and Baby Stuff

On May 30 Rebecca went to her first baseball game - West Michigan Whitecaps. She loved it!! She behaved so well. And got lots of complements from people walking by :) Hopefully she'll enjoy the other games we go to this summer. We can't wait to teach her how to play all kinds of sports.

Rebecca also went to her first soccer game on June 2 - mommy's game! She didn't see too much, though since she slept through it. Maybe she'll be more attentive at another game this summer. With her strong, active legs mommy thinks Rebecca will be a soccer player some day.

On June 3 Rebecca went to a Dr. appt. with mommy...and decided to show mommy what a stinker she could be by going through 3 diapers and a whole new outfit within 10 min. of arriving :P The appt. went well anyway. And mommy is now on an as-needed basis with Dr. Visser. What a difference 2 years with her has made. Mommy is very thankful.

Rebecca's baptism was June 8. Both families came to share this special event with her. Aunt Shannon and Grandma Voogt provided special music during the service. Despite a short power outage, a quick alternate food run and hot weather we had a nice little party at our house afterwards to celebrate. Rebecca got to see many of her relatives, and she got lots of nice gifts. We managed to clean up just before the rain started. Thanks to everyone that helped out and made this a special day.

Rebecca has her 2 month check up next Wed. Hard to believe she's that old already.

There are lots of updated pictures (May, June, Whitecaps, Baptism). See the link on the left.
