6 weeks!

Rebecca is now 6 weeks old. And she's getting so big! Her smiles are getting bigger, and she's more playful. Last week she got her first bottle feeding from daddy. They both enjoyed it :) She is starting to sleep better. She likes to sleep in the pack and play and the bouncy seat for naps. She's still not quite sure about the swing...maybe when she's a little bigger. Tonight Rebecca is going to her first baseball game. Hopefully she'll enjoy sporting events as much as mommy and daddy.

Mary had her 6 week postpartum check up yesterday. She's doing well, and Dr. E. gave her the all clear on all physical activity. Soccer starts on Monday, so she needs to start running again to get ready! Rebecca went with Mary and was a perfect angel as usual :)

Memorial Day

Rebecca went to her first Memorial Day Parade yesterday. It was a short parade with veterans and a band. Rebecca slept right through the loud band music! After the parade there was a service at the cemetary. Various veterans and students spoke. It was a nice way to remember those who have served and are currently serving our country. The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing and doing things in the yard and around the house.

One month old and other family updates

Rebecca is now one month old!! Hard to believe. She already seems so big. She's changing every day and keeping mommy and daddy guessing. She is starting to smile, she can hold her head up, and she's becoming more and more intrigued with her surroundings. Rebecca tried her first bottle this week...of mommy's milk of course :) She wasn't sure what to think of it at first, but she got the hang of it pretty quickly. Soon daddy can try feeding her. She also made it through church again yesterday. And she got to wear a new dress that daddy bought her.

Mommy and Rebecca went to Meijer and the mall last week. They are enjoying getting out of the house. Rebecca is a good shopper :) And mommy finally got to buy Rebecca some clothes.

Justin was elected as Deacon yesterday. Installation will be June 1. He is excited to take on this new role at church.

Mary has her 6 week postpartum check up on May 28. She's recovering well and already walking a couple miles every day. Rebecca loves to walk with mommy outside in the stroller and in the infant carrier on the treadmill.

Rebecca's baptism is June 8. We're looking forward to celebrating this special event with our families.

Happy Mother's Day!

May 11 we celebrated our first Mother's Day! Rebecca got dressed up in a new dress from Grandma Holleboom. We went to church. And daddy and Rebecca gave mommy roses and a picture frame. What a blessing to be able to celebrate this special day.

Rebecca continues to do well in her crib in the nursery the whole night. We moved the pack and play downstairs for daytime use now (no more sleeping in mommy and daddy's room).

Tulip Time

We went to Holland, MI on May 10 for Tulip Time. Rebecca enjoyed riding in her stroller and seeing cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. She also got to see lots of tulips! Maybe next year she'll be ready for some wooden shoes.

Sleeping in the crib

Rebecca slept in her crib the whole night last night!! We didn't think she'd transition from our room to the nursery quite this soon, but we are happy that it's going so well. Plus it helps mommy and daddy sleep better (daddy didn't even have to get up once last night!). Rebecca is also taking some naps in her crib. Hopefully she continues to do well with sleeping and staying on a bit of a schedule.

She has also gotten to try her stroller. She loves taking walks. Hopefully they'll be more frequent as the weather gets nicer.

Rebecca is 3 weeks old today and looking so big already. We are excited to see her personality develop as she grows.

2 week check up

Rebecca had her 2 week check up yesterday. She's a healthy, growing little girl! At birth she weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 18.5" long. Now she weighs 8 lbs. and is 19.75" long. She must be eating well. She is still a little peanut, though. She is in the 25% for both height and weight...just like mommy and daddy. Her Dr. was very happy with how she's doing. She goes back for her 2 month check up on June 18. That's when she'll get her immunizations.

Rebecca also got to try her infant carrier yesterday since she has reached the weight requirement. She wasn't quite sure what to think of it, but she was content. It will come in handy so mommy can do things 2 handed around the house. Check out the pictures of it with the link on the left...along with lots of other new pictures.

Visitors

Rebecca got to meet some more family members this week. Aunt Julie and cousins Anna and Joel stopped by with Grandpa and Grandma Holleboom on Tuesday. Anna was very excited to meet her first girl cousin.
